In 1949 Ezio Cristina began his entrepreneurial activity in Gozzano, founding CRISTINA and GALLIANO with a partner. These were the years of economic recovery during which the company went from being a subcontractor - therefore a supplier of semi-finished products - to a real producer.
The Impero series with the timeless elegance of the cross-shaped handles was born in 1965 and is still in production today.
It is among the first Italian companies to produce the thermostatic mixer since 1968. Thanks to a thermosensitive heart, the mixer regulates the water temperature and keeps it constant.
In 1973, CRISTINA Rubinetterie launched the Impero and Balilla lines in a new, colourful and surprisingly successful way.
In 1978, the Cristina family became the sole owners of the company. In the same years, the elder brother Alberto joined the company, followed a few years later by his brother Riccardo.
Modulo Series; City Series
in 1981, the company began producing the first lines with single lever mixer, a single lever that allows regulating the water temperature. The successful Modulo and City series were born.
In 1982, CRISTINA Rubinetterie bought SILFRA, a company that produced bathtub draining columns, and talks concerning the "Cristina Group" began.
Colors protagonists of the collection
Since 1984, for the whole decade, the Explosion of Colour - The company invested in the varnishing department, with a colour palette counting 100 finishes, and became the reference point of the coloured product.
In 1994, CRISTINA Rubinetterie began internal production of cartridges for single lever mixers. This allowed rationalising the offer and having the maximum control over the quality.
Compass series, design Massimo Farinatti
In 1998, the company realised the importance of establishing collaborations with architects and designers for the aesthetic design of some tapware series. Thus, Compass was born designed by architect Massimo Farinatti.
This was the year of the beginning of the fruitful collaboration with the internationally renowned designer Makio Hasuike, when a new logo for CRISTINA Rubinetterie and Esempio, a single lever mixer with a futuristic line, made their debut.
Classic shapes revisited in a modern key for this prestigious and functional Exclusive series, that is still in production in various finishes.
Up & Down®
Up & Down, the washbasin drains line, patented and produced by SILFRA, appeared in 2002 and it was revolutionary with the water opening and closing completely released from the tap control with just a light pressure on the cap.
Since 2003, the new division dedicated to stainless steel CRISTINA INOX has been dedicated to the study and application of this material, eco-sustainable and extremely versatile in the production of bathroom and kitchen taps and fittings.
Electronic Tap; Push Tap
In 2005, SILFRA continued to grow, becoming one of the Italian leaders in the sector. In addition to the production of bath waste columns, timed and electronic taps and fittings were added and the brand became a strategic supplier for many Italian companies in the sector.
In 2006, the merger of CRISTINA Rubinetterie SPA, SILFRA SPA and GODIO SPA (taps and fittings acquired in 2001) gave birth to CRS SPA, a Group that, by combining the various realities, aimed to increase synergies and strengths.
Gozzano plant in Via Don Minzoni
In 2007, the evolution in the organisation of the company generated the need for the evolution of the production pole. The Gozzano plant in Via Don Minzoni was expanded, creating a structure of over 2000sqm destined to host a fully automated warehouse.
Sandwich shower head
In 2008, the new ultra-thin Sandwich shower head, patented by CRISTINA Rubinetterie, was at the forefront from every point of view, from the design of materials to the eco-friendly elements.
In 2010, the logo was transformed, the yellow field resized and shaped from a rectangle into a square to perfectly hold the company’s name, expressing its exclusive character with discreet charm.
From 2011 To Today
2011. Thanks to the renovation work followed by Arch. Naomi Hasuike of the studio Makio Hasuike & Co., the historical headquarters of Gozzano, a nineteenth-century building, was revolutionised, becoming the group’s real headquarters.
King and Queen by MC2 architetti associati, two lines of taps and fittings born together and chosen either separately or coupled within a single ambience.
Rubinetto Series, design Makio Hasuike
With the Makio Hasuike designer, Rubinetto proposed an absolute simplicity, like a comma, neat and clear. A precise, recognisable, non-invasive sign.
Unic Series; Unix Series
Same design for two taps that differed from one another: UNIC, made of brass and UNIX, in brushed stainless steel, different materials giving life to a single product characterised by the linearity of the shapes.
Showroom CRISTINA Brera, Milano
With the aim of fostering a dialogue with designers and strengthening its brand awareness, the company opened its first showroom in Milan: four windows onto the historic Via Pontaccio, located in the heart of Brera, the design district.
The Italy series combined industrial production and craftsmanship, representing, in a single gesture, the excellence of Made in Italy. The series designed by Busetti Garuti Redaelli designers, in addition to the various finishes proposed, added the possibility of combining the tap body with marble or stone knobs.
The company announced the acquisition by the Caleffi Group, leader in the Made in Italy production of components for heating, air conditioning, and plumbing systems. An important operation aimed at guaranteeing the absolute continuity of the brand and its growth at an international level.
Quadri S Series; Profilo Series
Two novelties were presented: Quadri S and Profilo, the first one was a softening of the shape of the square, the other was versatile and suitable for any environment.
Thermostatic mixer Thermo Up, design Makio Hasuike & Co
The thermostatic mixer was created to meet the precise needs of a public increasingly attentive to functionality, environmental values and energy saving. Designed in collaboration with the Makio Hasuike studio & Co., Thermo Up was a high-quality product combining design with comfort of use.
Tabula Series, angelettiruzza design
TABULA, the new collection by angelettiruzza design for CRISTINA Rubinetterie. A squared body, outlined by a clear and strong profile, was the result of a wise stylistic exercise of subtraction in which every superfluous element was eliminated to concentrate on the pure essence of the forms.

Rebranding Today, the company presents its new identity card, the result of artistic and creative work that has involved the company on several levels, with new graphics and content that outline an even more cohesive identity and expresses the desire to be immediately recognizable as one of the key players in its sector, in Italy and in the sixty countries where the company is present with its collections.
